Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is defined as the inability to achieve and/or
maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. The
term “impotence” was once loosely used to imply the same
condition. Many men consulting the physicians of the Boston Medical Group
can achieve an erection, but it is usually not as firm or as lasting
as it once was.
Signs of Natural Erectile Dysfunction
Difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection occurring at least once in every four times of attempting sexual intercourse, or persisting for more than one month.
Achieving an erection taking longer than usual or becoming more difficult in certain positions.
Sexual erection becoming weaker or less rigid.
Maintaining an erection becoming a conscious effort or becoming more and more difficult.
Morning erections becoming less frequent or less rigid.
Climaxing or ejaculating more rapidly or with an incomplete erection.
How an Erectile Problem Effects Daily Living
Erectile dysfunction may cause or exacerbate psychological problems such as poor motivation, feelings of inadequacy, frustration, denial and low self-esteem, and may ultimately lead to depression. Personal, family and business relationships may be adversely affected.

Varying Degrees of Male Erection Problem
The Massachusetts Male Aging study confirmed that 52% of the male population
between the ages of forty and seventy suffered
from a degree of ED with 10% of men suffering from
complete ED. At least ten million and possibly
as many as thirty million men in America suffer from varying degrees
of ED stemming from physical causes.
Although there is a strong relationship between ED and aging, ED is not considered to be a normal part of aging. Every man, regardless of his age should be able to have a complete sex life for his entire life. At Boston Medical Group, we have treated men as young as 18 and as old as 94.
Both high blood pressure and the medication used to treat it can cause ED*. Many patients who come to the Boston Medical Group do have high blood pressure. We can safely and effectively treat patients with ED who also have high blood pressure.
* Do not discontinue use of your high blood pressure medication
under any circumstances, unless otherwise instructed
by your physician.
One of the common complications of diabetes is ED. In fact, at least 60% of diabetics suffer from ED. The physicians at the Boston Medical Group are very experienced in treating both type 1 and type 2 diabetics who have ED.
